TikTok Shop fulfilment in the UK: the rules, the costs and your three routes

On TikTok Shop one video can turn a quiet product into hundreds of orders in an afternoon, and TikTok judges every one of them on how fast it leaves your hands. Many of the rules quoted online are American, or out of date.

This guide sets out the UK position on 4 November 2026: the three fulfilment routes, the deadlines, the metrics in your Shop Performance Score, what each route costs, and how samples, returns and Black Friday fit in. Everything comes from TikTok Shop’s UK Seller University and Partner Center pages, listed with their dates at the end. Where something is our reading rather than a published rule, we say so.

What are the three ways to fulfil TikTok Shop orders in the UK?

Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) is TikTok’s own fulfilment service: you send stock to TikTok’s warehouse and TikTok stores, picks, packs, delivers and handles returns. It launched in the UK on 8 August 2023. TikTok’s own pages use the American spelling elsewhere, as in the “Fulfillment and Logistics” part of your score.

Shipped via Platform, formerly Ship by TikTok, means you keep and pack your own stock, but the label is TikTok’s and TikTok “collects labeled orders from their warehouses”. It is the default for UK orders.

Shipped by Seller means you pack the order, ship it with an approved tracked carrier and upload the tracking number. It needs no approval and can run alongside Shipped via Platform for selected products.

The point most guides miss: “your warehouse” in the last two routes can be a third-party logistics company (3PL). A 3PL can pack under Shipped via Platform with TikTok’s label, or under Shipped by Seller on its own carrier accounts. Only FBT replaces the 3PL.

How long do you have to dispatch a TikTok Shop order in the UK?

Two working days. TikTok’s UK Customer Order Shipping Policy (27 August 2026) says you must pack and label an order within 2 working days, and for Shipped via Platform hand it to the carrier within 2 working days of the order. A working day is “any day from Monday to Friday, excluding national public holidays in the customer’s country”. Weekends do not count, so a 72-hour clock that runs through the weekend is not the UK rule.

1. Delivered within 4 working days for Shipped by Seller orders.
2. Cancelled automatically if not with the carrier within 7 working days.
3. 36 hours to correct a tracking number. Tracking with no carrier activity 24 hours after upload is listed by TikTok as abusive shipping.
4. A 1-hour “On Hold” on new UK orders, during which TikTok’s Partner Center tells order systems not to release them, matching the hour in which a buyer can cancel.

Which couriers can you use for TikTok Shop in the UK?

Use an approved, tracked carrier. The Shipped by Seller list (updated 30 October 2026) includes Evri, DPD, DHL, Yodel, Parcelforce, Royal Mail Tracked 24, Tracked 48 and Special Delivery. It says Royal Mail 1st and 2nd class are not traceable. Labels are 102 x 152 mm.

Mind the inserts. The policy bans inserts asking for positive reviews, unsolicited marketing and products the customer did not order. A branded thank-you card is fine; a “leave us five stars” card is not.

How do you get the “2-Day Shipping” label without FBT?

Chase the “2-Day Shipping” label. FBT products get it automatically. Other shops earn it with at least 80% of orders delivered within 2 calendar days over 60 days, and more than 5 orders in that time. TikTok’s cut-off is 2pm UK time, Sunday to Thursday: orders before it should ship that day. Scotland, Northern Ireland and remote areas are excluded. In practice you need a same-day cut-off of 2pm or later and a next-day service.

Which TikTok Shop metrics does fulfilment affect?

On-Time Delivery Rate (OTDR) is the share of packages over 7 calendar days delivered on time, updated every Monday. When it falls below 70% in a week with late orders, TikTok can charge Late Delivery Fees per late order “regardless of the cause”, carrier delays included. The UK page does not publish the fee, so any pound figure you read elsewhere is unconfirmed.

Late Dispatch Rate is the share of packages taking more than 2 working days to reach “Shipped”, and applies to Shipped via Platform. Valid Tracking Rate is the share of Shipped by Seller parcels sent tracked on an approved carrier. The UK pages print no threshold for either.

Shop Performance Score (SPS) runs from 0 to 5 once you have 30 delivered orders in 60 days. It has three factors: Product Satisfaction, Fulfilment and Logistics, and Customer Service. TikTok’s worked example weights Fulfilment and Logistics at 52%. That factor holds Seller Fault Cancellation Rate (FBT excluded) and On-Time Delivery Rate (FBT and Shipped via Platform exempt), which replaced Late Dispatch Rate in the score from 22 July 2026. SPS gates Affiliate and campaign access, so slow dispatch costs reach as well as fees.

Enforcement can mean delisted products, a daily order cap, lost Affiliate access, restricted fulfilment methods, a balance withheld for up to 90 calendar days, or suspension.

What does TikTok Shop fulfilment cost in the UK?

Shipped via Platform: the rate card from 1 November 2026

Per parcel delivered from 1 November 2026, UK mainland, before VAT. Your tier depends on parcels shipped this way in the previous calendar month; new sellers start on the lowest tier.

Four details change the maths. Every band up to 5kg rose: before 1 November a Large Letter was £2.10 drop-off and £2.35 pickup, so 30p and 25p more, a 45 x 35 x 16 parcel £2.70 and £2.95, and a 2 to 5kg parcel £4.60 and £4.85. The tier rates went up 5p to 10p, and parcels over 5kg did not change. LIVE and auction pickup orders are billed at the pickup base rate with no tier discount. Remote areas add £1.50. And since 1 August 2026 a wrongly declared weight or size costs a £3.50 courier handling fee.

Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) fees in the UK

On any route, TikTok’s standard commission is 9% including VAT, with different rates in some categories, charged on a base that includes the shipping the buyer pays. On Shipped via Platform the default flat shipping charge for UK mainland buyers is up to £3.99 before VAT, and sellers can set it lower.

How do you ship creator samples on TikTok Shop?

Creators sell your product on TikTok Shop, and creators want a sample first. Samples run on their own clock.

1. Two kinds. Free samples, where the seller pays product, shipping and tax, and refundable samples, where the creator buys and is refunded on meeting the criteria.
2. Seven days, then seven more. Review a request within 7 days and ship an approved sample within 7 days, or it cancels.
3. They ship like orders, through Seller Center with a TikTok label or your own tracking. TikTok’s Affiliate APIs are not available in the UK, so in our reading a 3PL receives samples as ordinary orders through the shop connection.
4. They do not count in your score. TikTok’s score guide leaves creator samples out of SPS, but a late or damaged sample still costs you the video.

Treat samples as a product line: ring-fence sample stock so a viral week does not leave creators waiting, give kits their own SKU, and ship samples the same day as orders. Under FBT each sample is £1.99 plus the operation fee; at a 3PL it is a normal pick and pack.

How do returns work on TikTok Shop UK?

Buyers can ask for a return up to 30 calendar days after delivery, and TikTok approves requests automatically except for personalised and perishable items. Where one is not auto-approved you have 2 working days to respond, and doing nothing for 2 calendar days after a return arrives triggers an automatic refund. For change of mind, TikTok pays return postage if TikTok arranges the return, the seller if the seller does; the buyer never pays to return a faulty item. A Black Friday 2026 checklist for TikTok Shop

TikTok Shop UK says Black Friday 2025 sales rose 45% year on year, with 27 items sold every second at the peak. Black Friday 2026 is Friday 27 November.

1. Re-price on the new rate card. On base rates, parcels up to 5kg now cost 21p to 30p more than before 1 November (5p to 10p on the volume tiers), and LIVE pickup orders never get tier prices.
2. Check declared sizes. A £3.50 handling fee costs more than the postage on a Large Letter.
3. Buffer the hero SKU and have stock in place by mid-November: TikTok says “Fake Friday”, a week before Black Friday 2025, matched its 2024 record day.
4. Know your weekend gap. Working days stop on Friday; buyers do not.
5. Confirm peak extensions in Seller Center. The extensions quoted online are US; we found no UK equivalent.
6. Plan Christmas: check courier peak surcharges for 2026 and set your Christmas last order dates.

Can a UK 3PL fulfil your TikTok Shop orders?

A 3PL connects through TikTok Shop’s Open API, usually via an order management system; TikTok’s Fulfillment API exists to sync order status with 3PLs. The order lands, waits out the 1-hour hold, is picked and packed, and tracking goes back so it shows “Shipped”. The stock count then drops on every channel, which stops overselling when a video takes off; see who owns the stock count when a 3PL holds your stock.

Which route? Under Shipped by Seller the 3PL ships on its own accounts and OTDR counts in your score. Under Shipped via Platform it prints TikTok’s label, TikTok’s carrier collects, and OTDR is exempt if parcels go out within 2 working days. Ask any 3PL which it supports from its own building.

Is Fulfilled by TikTok worth it, or is a 3PL better?

FBT is better when TikTok Shop is most of your sales, your products are small and fast-moving, and you want the 2-Day Shipping label without earning it. Sixty days of free storage and a £1.79 or £1.99 parcel are hard to beat for TikTok-only stock.

A 3PL is better when you sell the same stock on Shopify, Amazon, eBay or Etsy too, when you need kitting, custom packaging or branded sample boxes, when stock moves slowly past 60 days, or when you would rather not risk a £50 missed inbound slot.

Some sellers split it: hero SKUs in FBT for the badge, everything else at a 3PL. With the figures above it is a straightforward sum for your own products.

How long do I have to dispatch a TikTok Shop order in the UK?

Two working days to pack, label and, for Shipped via Platform, hand the parcel to the carrier. A working day is Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, so weekends do not count. Shipped by Seller orders must be delivered within 4 working days, and orders not with a carrier within 7 working days are cancelled automatically.

Can a 3PL fulfil my TikTok Shop orders?

Yes. A 3PL can work under Shipped by Seller, shipping on its own approved tracked carrier accounts, or under Shipped via Platform, packing your orders with TikTok’s label for TikTok’s carrier to collect. Orders, tracking and stock sync through TikTok Shop’s API. Only Fulfilled by TikTok replaces the 3PL.

How much does Fulfilled by TikTok cost in the UK?

An operation fee per unit from £0.78 including VAT for an extra-small item, free storage for the first 60 days and a tiered storage fee after that. On orders of £22 or more the seller pays £1.99 a parcel for the buyer’s free shipping, or £1.79 for FBT Value+ products. Returns, removals and inbound mistakes, such as a £50 missed appointment, cost extra.

What does Shipped via Platform cost from 1 November 2026?

Before VAT, a Large Letter up to 1kg costs £2.40 to drop off or £2.60 collected, and a 45 x 35 x 16 cm parcel up to 2kg £3.00 or £3.20. Volume tiers from 601 parcels a month bring the Large Letter to between £1.80 and £1.65. LIVE and auction pickup orders pay the base pickup rate, and remote areas add £1.50.

Can I use Royal Mail 1st or 2nd class for TikTok Shop orders?

No. TikTok’s approved carrier list, updated on 30 October 2026, says Royal Mail 1st and 2nd class are not traceable. Royal Mail Tracked 24, Tracked 48 and Special Delivery are approved, as are Evri, DPD, DHL, Yodel and Parcelforce, among others.

Who pays for returns on TikTok Shop UK?

Buyers have 30 calendar days from delivery, and most requests are approved automatically.
