The Amazon fee that matters this quarter is not the one everyone wrote about
What Q4 2026 really costs in an Amazon fulfilment centre.
Amazon
Amazon has not published its 2027 UK fee changes yet. A few things about 2027 are already fixed in Amazon’s own documents, the rest follows a pattern you can plan around, and we will update this page within 48 hours of the announcement.

If you have searched for Amazon’s 2027 FBA fees, you will have found pages that sound certain. Some promise a new rate card, one says the whole pricing model changes on 1 January. As of 30 October 2026, Amazon has not announced its 2027 fee changes for the UK or the rest of Europe, and none of those pages links to anything Amazon has published.
That does not mean nothing is known. Amazon’s own rate card already says what happens to UK fulfilment fees in January. The government has already fixed one change to how Amazon handles your VAT in 2027. And three years of fee rounds show when the announcement usually arrives and which kinds of fee tend to move.
Everything below comes from Amazon’s published rate cards for Europe, Amazon’s own announcements and gov.uk. Where something is our reading of a pattern rather than a fact, we say so.
The short version: no 2027 UK fees yet. The festive peak fee ends on 14 January 2027, and on 15 January fees go back to the 2026 rates, which Amazon says are unchanged. The European update has come in December for the last two years, with most changes taking effect in early February. Fulfilment fees have been flat or falling, while storage, returns and new surcharges have gone up. To see today’s fees on one product, use our Amazon fee calculator.
No. We checked Amazon’s European news pages, Seller Central announcements and the rate card library on 30 October 2026. The current UK rate card is the one effective 1 July 2026, and it contains no 2027 fee table.
For comparison, last year’s European update was published on 2 December 2025. In the US, Amazon published its 2026 changes on 15 October 2025 and promised at least 90 days’ notice before any fee increase. No US 2027 update has appeared either. On that 90-day promise, a US increase announced now could not start before late January 2027. That is US only, but it is a sign the 2027 round has not been released anywhere yet.
One claim is worth naming because it ranks. A blog post dated September 2026 says Amazon announced a “sweeping overhaul” of FBA pricing effective 1 January 2027. It gives no figures, no link to Amazon and no UK detail, and we could find no Amazon source or trade report that backs it. Do not reprice your catalogue on it.
These dates are in published documents, not forecasts.
| Date | What happens | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 1 January 2027 | UK storage returns to the January to September band: 76p per cubic foot per month for standard-size stock outside clothing, down from £1.51. | Amazon rate card |
| 14 January 2027 | The festive peak fulfilment fee ends. It has applied since 15 October 2026 on large envelopes and parcels. | Amazon rate card |
| 15 January 2027 | Fulfilment fees go back to the non-peak rates, which Amazon says are “unchanged from the 2026 non-peak rates”. | Amazon rate card |
| No end date | The 1.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on FBA fulfilment fees, in place since 17 April 2026, continues. Amazon calls it temporary but has not said when it ends. | Amazon rate card and Seller Central |
| 1 October 2027 | Online marketplaces, Amazon included, start collecting the VAT on UK sales by VAT registered sellers and by sellers over £90,000 on one platform. | Budget 2026, gov.uk |
The 15 January line is the one most sellers miss. It is Amazon confirming the starting point for 2027, not saying fees are frozen for the year. A 2027 announcement can still change them, as the last three fee rounds did from early February.
The VAT change is not a fee, but it changes your cash flow more than most fee rounds do. We have written it up separately: who the marketplace collects VAT for from October 2027.
These are the standard UK FBA fulfilment fees, per unit sold, from the rate card effective 1 July 2026. They are the non-peak rates that come back on 15 January. Amazon prints them before the 1.5% surcharge.
| Size tier | Weight | Fee per unit |
|---|---|---|
| Light envelope, up to 33 x 23 x 2.5cm | up to 100g | £1.83 to £2.08 |
| Standard envelope, same size | up to 460g | £2.10 to £2.16 |
| Large envelope, up to 4cm thick | up to 960g | £2.72 |
| Extra-large envelope, up to 6cm thick | up to 960g | £2.94 |
| Small parcel, up to 35 x 25 x 12cm | 150g / 400g / 1.9kg / 3.9kg | £2.91 / £3.00 / £3.25 / £3.27 |
| Standard parcel, up to 45 x 34 x 26cm | 150g / 400g / 1.9kg / 11.9kg | £2.94 / £3.01 / £3.48 / £3.58 |
| Small oversize, up to 61 x 46 x 46cm | up to 760g | £3.49 |
Two things change the number you actually pay. Parcels are charged on the greater of the real weight and the dimensional weight, which is length times width times height in centimetres divided by 5,000, so a light product in a big box pays for the box. And the 1.5% surcharge sits on top: a £3.01 standard parcel works out at about £3.06.
Low-Price FBA is cheaper again, from £1.46 for the lightest envelope to £2.70 for a small parcel up to 400g. Since 5 January 2026 it covers items priced at £20 or less including VAT in most categories, and £10 or less in a few, including beauty, health and personal care, grocery, books, office and kitchen.
Amazon does not publish a forecast, but it does publish a history. Here is when each of the last three European updates arrived and what it did in the UK.
| Fee year | Announced | Took effect | What changed for UK sellers |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | End of 2023 | 5 February 2024 | Changes across fulfilment, storage and surcharges. Amazon’s post pointed sellers to its fee pages rather than giving headline figures. |
| 2025 | Late 2024 | 1 February 2025 | Parcel and oversize fees lower on average. A new returns processing fee for high-return-rate products. The aged inventory surcharge extended down to 241 days. |
| 2026 | 2 December 2025 | 15 December 2025 to 1 February 2026, in stages | Parcel fees down an average of 26p. Storage, return-to-seller and liquidation fees up. Then a 1.5% fuel surcharge added mid-year, from 17 April 2026. |
The parcel cuts in the 2026 round were real, and large at the heavy end. A standard parcel up to 2.9kg went from £4.73 to £3.49, and one up to 11.9kg from £5.77 to £3.58. Small oversize went from £3.65 to £3.49.
The same round moved money the other way. Storage for standard-size stock in October to December went from £1.37 to £1.51 a cubic foot, clothing storage from 56p to 62p in the cheap months, and liquidation and return-to-seller fees went up. Amazon’s own announcement led with the parcel cuts, and in the same post put the net change per unit sold through FBA at plus 2p on average.
The pattern, in our reading: the fee per parcel has been flat or falling for two years. What goes up is storage, returns and removals, and each of the last two years has brought a new kind of charge: a returns fee in 2025, the fuel surcharge in 2026. A seller with fast-moving stock has done well out of recent rounds. A seller with slow stock has paid for it.
On timing, the last two European updates were announced in December, and most of the changes started on 1 February or the first week of February. Parcel cuts came sooner, within about two weeks. If 2027 follows the same pattern, expect an announcement in December 2026 and the main changes around early February 2027. That is a pattern, not a promise, and we will replace it with the real dates as soon as Amazon publishes them.
When the 2027 update lands, the headline will be an average. Averages hide the tier you sell in. These are the lines worth reading yourself.
Price on what is published, plus the surcharge. Use the July 2026 rate card and add 1.5% to the fulfilment fee. That is the rate you will pay from 15 January, and Amazon announces fee changes before they apply, so you will see any 2027 change before it reaches your invoice.
Check your size tiers now. Measure a packed unit and work out its dimensional weight. A product that sits just over a tier line, by a centimetre of packaging or a few grams, costs the same extra every time it sells, whatever 2027 brings.
Watch the slow stock in January. Storage drops back to 76p on 1 January, but the storage utilisation surcharge looks at the last 13 weeks, and the aged inventory surcharge starts at 241 days. Christmas stock that did not sell is what gets charged in the new year. Decide in early January what to sell through, remove or hold elsewhere, before the bands do it for you.
Ignore numbers without a source. If a page gives you 2027 UK rates before Amazon has published them, ask where they came from. Amazon’s rate cards are public PDFs, and a real figure will be in one.
Most of what changes in a fee round lands on stock that is sitting still, so the cheapest move is usually to keep less of it at Amazon. That is what FBA prep is for: we hold the stock, and when Amazon needs more we label, bag and box it to Amazon’s requirements and send it in.
Our storage is on the published rate card: £18.00 a month for a pallet, and it does not change with the season. New clients get 30 days of free storage up to ten pallets. If you sell on your own site as well, the same stock can cover both channels. For what Amazon charges to store stock through Christmas, see our breakdown of Amazon FBA storage fees in Q4 2026.
Moving stock out of FBA is not always the answer. FBA buys the Prime badge, and on a fast seller that is worth more than any storage saving. The split that tends to work is fast stock at Amazon and slow stock elsewhere.
Not as of 30 October 2026. The current UK rate card is the one effective 1 July 2026, and it has no 2027 fee table. The only 2027 statement in it is that fulfilment fees return on 15 January 2027 to the non-peak rates, which are unchanged from 2026. We will update this page within 48 hours of the announcement.
Amazon has not said. The last two European updates were announced in December, with most changes taking effect on 1 February or the first week of February, so an announcement in December 2026 and changes around early February 2027 would fit the pattern. Treat that as an expectation, not a date.
Yes, for the tiers that pay it. The festive peak fee ends on 14 January 2027. On 15 January large and extra-large envelopes drop back by 7p, and small and standard parcels by 11p to 13p, to the 2026 non-peak rates. Light and standard envelopes, oversize and Low-Price FBA never paid it. Storage also drops on 1 January, from £1.51 to 76p a cubic foot for most standard-size stock.
Yes. It has applied to FBA fulfilment fees in the UK since 17 April 2026, and to Multi-Channel Fulfilment since 2 May 2026. Amazon describes it as temporary but has not given an end date. It is charged on the fulfilment fee, not on the sale price, and it also applies on top of the festive peak fee.
There is no Amazon source for that. One blog post from September 2026 claims an overhaul from 1 January 2027, but it gives no figures and links to nothing Amazon has published. Amazon’s own rate card says fees return to the unchanged 2026 rates on 15 January 2027. The changes that are confirmed for January are the peak fee ending and storage returning to its cheaper band.
